Nature Girl by Heart

For as long as I can remember, I've been a nature lover. I love being outdoors, whether its boating, fishing, hiking, biking, walking on the beach, you name it. The colors in today's outfit kinda remind me of the hues you see outside during the fall. My peeptoes even have flowers and dragonflies on them!

What a Week!

So I didn't mean to take a week-long hiatus from blogging, but these things happen sometimes. I should have suspected as much though. After I finished up with work last Tuesday, I barely touched my laptop until yesterday morning when I went back to work. I hung out with friends, cooked out, watched football and generally had a great time! You might be wondering why no outfit post from yesterday though. Long story short, I spent part of Sunday night at the emergency vet (thank goodness the fur baby is ok) and didn't go to sleep until about 5am, so needless to say, I worked from home yesterday.

Here is what I wore to work today. I felt like the dress needed a little something extra, so I added the belt. But as you can see from the pics, the belt kept sliding down and the little seam under my bust kept sliding up (the dress is a somewhat stretchy jersey which didn't help). Oh well, you never know until you try, right?

And after looking at these pics, I think I need tights to make this a bit more work appropriate. I didn't realize the dress was as short as it is.

Change in Perception

When I first bought this skirt awhile back, I wasn't 100% sure that I liked it. But the more I wear it, the more I love it. And it's funny, because there have been certain pieces I absolutely love when I buy them, but then they sit in my closet for ages. Or after wearing, I say to myself "what in the world was I thinking?" Sometimes its the color, sometimes its the fit, sometimes its something I can't quite pinpoint. Luckily this skirt doesn't fall into that category. :)

Feels Like...Thursday?

Even though today is Monday, it feels like Thursday to me. Why you ask? Because I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week off, making tomorrow my Friday! I'm so excited to have a few days off of work. I desperately need a break and am looking forward to having a chance to relax for a few days. Plus, it being Halloween and FL/GA weekend and all, a few friends are coming in town, so it should be an all-around good time!

Yea, the pants are a little long. Once again, its amazing what you see in a photo that you don't see in the mirror.

Boycotting Summer

I am offically boycotting summer. It's late October for goodness sake and I am tired of 80+ degree temps and sweating whenever I walk outside. I'm ready for cooler, more fall-like weather. We had a small taste of it a few weeks ago and I would like it to return full-time (please). As such, even though it was a little warm, I just had to pull out my boots.

That's BF's truck in the background...call me a southern girl, but there is just something about a man in a 4-wheel drive truck that is just so appealing to me (not the super jacked-up, absolutley ridiculous kind of truck, mind you. The normal variety will do just fine, thankyouverymuch).

Yay, it's the weekend! Oh, and for the record, I already have my Florida shirt on for tonight's game versus Mississippi State.

Kind Sorta Pink(ish)

I tried to find something pink to wear today (to support Think Pink Week) and once again struggled immensely. I have 2 pink tops and a pink/white floral cardi, but I wasn't feeling either of the tops and I couldn't really find anything to go with the cardi. So, I went with this pinkish/purpley cardi and a dress with pinkish flowers...doesn't exactly fit the bill 100% but it's the thought that counts, right? :)

I had to majorly correct the brightness in this pic so that it showed a truer representation of the colors of the outfit. I guess the sun's position is shifting due to the onset of fall/winter and my usual spot for taking pics is now flooded with direct sunlight in the morning (resulting in hideously washed out pics...see above for example). Looks like I'll need to readjust a few things...

That's it for today lovelies...ta-ta for now!

Think Pink and Show Your Support!

I was inspired by the lovely Bianca to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness week. I figured this would be an easy task, but as I was searching through my closet last night, one thing became abundantly clear...Elle Woods I am not! Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the color pink. But for one reason or another, I have very few pink items in my wardrobe. I have plenty of blues and greens, a smattering of oranges, yellows and purples, the usual assortment of browns, tans and blacks...but very little pink. Perhaps it's an unconscious remnant from my childhood tomboy days, who knows. But luckily, I was able to find the pink(ish) top below to show my support for Think Pink Week! Let's just hope I can find something for tomorrow. :)

Yes I need to iron my skirt a bit better next time (that's what happens when you're in a rush in the morning, at least it my world). And yes, the pic below is kinda blurry, but I still wanted to include it.

Love the 40's vibe of these peeptoes!
